Man From The United Kingdom Runs Away From “Nagging” Wife.

Malcolm Applegate made more than just a b-line for the door he full on made a new life in the woods to avoid spending another second with his wife. Malcolm who was 52 when he made the move to live off the land was originally a gardener and had happily been so for about 25 years.

Malcolm was happy with his life until he married. Married life didn’t sit well with him. The freedom he had to garden as much as his heart desired was encroached upon by a “controlling” wife. Malcolm claims that the more hours he worked the more she would nag him. Eventually, it got to a point where the wife demanded he cut his hours.

After trying to tough it out Malcolm one day just left. He didn’t leave a note or say goodbye to anyone. He simply packed up his things and camped out for the next 5 years near Kingston. The second half-decade was spent in a homeless shelter where he continues to garden and do an odd job or two to make some money for the homeless

Applegate only recently after 10 years made contact with his family who had thought he had died years ago. The shelter convinced him to contact his sister and now they have “a great relationship again.”

As Reported By Emmaus.org

My day-to-day involves working in the shop or driving the vans, I’m not fussy what jobs are given to me as long as I’m working. In my spare time, I enjoy doing sponsored walks for other homeless charities. My recent walk through London raised almost £300 for Street Souls, not bad for a man in his sixties!

I’d like the people who donate to Emmaus to know that I am grateful for being given a second chance at life. I have a lovely room, I am able to work and I can still lead an active social life – I love it here – my life is officially back on track.”
