Tristan Dilley, a Silsbee High School cheerleader in Texas, was ordered by a 19-year-old boy who apparently lied and told her he was 16. He apparently intended to dismember her, as well.

According to Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman to “From what we could gather, they were trying to see each other when her mother was gone.” They further commented that there was no clear motive as of yet.

On Monday, as Texas Rangers met with suspect Paul Adams’ mother, Adams called his mother and informed her he was at Dilley’s home during the shooting but said Dilley had been murdered by an intruder. When the Rangers said he could be a useful witness, he hung up.

As reported by KJAS:

The investigation into the death began on the Sunday evening of October 3rd when the body of 14-year-old Dilley was found in a bedroom at her mother’s home on County Road 784, near Buna, in south Jasper County. Investigators quickly determined that Dilley had been shot at least once with a small caliber weapon and immediately began to investigate the case as a homicide.

Newman said that in following up on leads in the case, officers from his department obtained cell phone records that led them to a rural location, near an irrigation canal on Farm to Market Road 1135, near Vidor in Orange County, where they not only found Adams, but also his car and a tent, where he had apparently set up camp. However, Newman said as the deputies drove up, Adams, who was sitting on the ground behind his vehicle, shot and killed himself with a small caliber handgun.

According to Beaumont Enterprise, Paul Audrey Adams, 19, was named a suspect in the Sunday fatal shooting of Triston Dilley on Monday, hours before he apparently took his own life, according to Chief Deputy Glenn Blank.

Adams appears to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound outside of his car, which was parked on a secluded stretch of FM 1135 near Vidor around noon on Monday.
